Packing up your belongings can be overwhelming and a lot of work! Here are some tips to make the process go smoothly:

Be prepared with packing supplies. Make sure to have plenty of boxes in different sizes, bubble wrap, packing tape, a marker, and scissors.

Label boxes. Pack one room at a time and correctly label boxes with contents on the top and side of the box. If a box contains breakables label it as fragile so movers know to treat that box with extra care.

Keep small parts together. When taking apart furniture, put knobs, screws, etc. in a sandwich bag and tape the bag to the piece of furniture so it is not lost or misplaced and is ready for quick set-up.

Pack wisely. Pack boxes with heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on top. To protect valuables wrap them in crushed paper before packing, and fill empty spaces in boxes with additional paper.

Plan ahead. When packing the moving truck, keep in mind what you will need first, and pack those items last. Pack a separate bag with your toiletries and a change of clothes so you are prepared and not searching for something that you need that first morning in your new house!
